I believe that the most important perosn we have studied all year, is Theodore Roosevely. I think this because he is our "pioneer" president. He was a president of firsts, and the father of modern presidency.
Theodore was a great president of firsts. He was the first to fly in an airplane,
to be submerged in a submarine, to own a car, to have a telephone in his home, to travel outside the borders of the US while still in office, to entertain an African-American in the White House, and to win the first AMERICAN as well as first President to win a Nobel Prize in any of the six categories. If you think abotu it, this is an incredible list of accomplishments.
Theodore Roosevelt also led construction of the Panama Canal. "The canal," Roosevelt said, "was by far the most important action I took in foreign affairs during the time I was President. When nobody could or would exercise efficient authority, I exercised it." This was another huge accomlishment. He was able to link two oceans, and make it possible to travle around the globe without sailing around South America.
Theodore was also the founder of many things. He founded the first 51 federal bird sanctuaries, and the first 18 national monuments (including the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest, Muir Woods and Devils Tower). This is a huge part of history. If we didn't have TR to do this, we would not be at the same point in our knowledge of nature. Theodore changed our idea of a preisdent through all the things he decided to do. He changed the way that presidents were supposed to act.
If we didn't have TR as president we wouldn't be at the same place as a country that we are now. We would be ages back in history. We wouldn't have the slightest ideas about nature that we have now. We might not even have the Panama canal. He took so many risks in the way he ran our country. I think that we needed a president liek this to revolutoonize our country. This is why I believe that TR is the most important person we have studied all year long.

My School People
First, I will evaluate my fellow freshmans blog. This blog was done by Bryce Ely. The blog was about the USC and UCLA football game. The blog very well done. Except for the fact that there was not any links. Another minor problem was that there were some spelling mistakes, but hey who doesn't make spelling mistakes. Overall I liked this blog. It was full of information and held my attention.
Second, I will evaluate another freshman's blog. This blog was done by Andrew Patag. Thsi blog was very well written and pretty well thought out for a freshman. I really liked the blog abotu his evaluation of other peoples blogs. He broke their blogs down, really shwoing that he read all their blogs entries, and why he liked them.
Third, I will look at my girlfriends's blog. This blog on a whole was just okay. The entry about teh same sex school's was very good. It was veyr informative, and very well written, other than some spelling and grammar errors. But overall that entry was very good. Her other entries were just okay. There were alot of spelling mistakes and her links were "interesting". But I guess I liked her blog. I am also thankful that she doesn't read my blog or else she might be a little bit angry.
Fourth, I will look at Austin's blog. This blog was very short on a whole. All the entries are very short. The spelling is horrid on the blogs, but the entries contain good throught out information. I especially like how he expressed his thoughts through the tobacco tax. He was very good thoughts and if he tried a little bit harder could, make this blog into something very good.
Finally, I will look at my summer baseball buddies blog. Thsi blog is extremly good. It is very well written, and very well organized. His thoughts are very well put out, and understandable. His topics are very original, and interesting. If I coudl give any criticism it woudl be that he didn't have five links in all his entries. But, other than that it was very good.

Back in Time
On this day in 1941 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signs a bill saying that the fourth Thursday in November shall be established as Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving serves as a celebration of being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the previous year. This holiday is only observed in the United States and in Canada as well.

Theo...aka Theodore Roosevelt
Who? Theodore Roosevelt aka Teddy, was a very small, weak, child with asthma and a very weak immune system. But he grew up to be one of the most charasmatic presidents ever. "...This may have been a strange way to act, but not for Theodore Roosevelt. Almost everything about him was unusual." (DeMauro) In 1900 William McKinley asked Teddy if he woudl become his vice president. After McKinley was shot in 1901, he became president.
What? Theodore, did many things as a president. Teddy became the youngest president ever. He served two terms and was a president of Firsts. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905, he was the first president in a foreign country, and he was also the first preisdent to be in an airplane, and a submarine. He was also known for leading the Rough Riders in Cuba.
Where? Theodore was born October 27, 1858, in New York, New York. He fought in the Spanish- American War, in Cuba, and led his troops to victory at San Juan Hill.
When? He was president in 1901, and served two terms. He died January 6, 1919, form an arterial blood clot.
Why? He became president ultimately, becasue President McKinley was assasinated. He was one of the greatest presidents. Mainly because he was the firts to do many many things. But also because he was a great public speaker, and had great charisma. "President Roosevelt- or "Teddy"- was full of engery. He didn't just hike. He boxed, wrestled, played tennis, and rode horses." (Horn)
