Back in Time
On this day in 1941 President Franklin Delano Roosevelt signs a bill saying that the fourth Thursday in November shall be established as Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving serves as a celebration of being thankful for what one has and the bounty of the previous year. This holiday is only observed in the United States and in Canada as well.

Theo...aka Theodore Roosevelt
Who? Theodore Roosevelt aka Teddy, was a very small, weak, child with asthma and a very weak immune system. But he grew up to be one of the most charasmatic presidents ever. "...This may have been a strange way to act, but not for Theodore Roosevelt. Almost everything about him was unusual." (DeMauro) In 1900 William McKinley asked Teddy if he woudl become his vice president. After McKinley was shot in 1901, he became president.
What? Theodore, did many things as a president. Teddy became the youngest president ever. He served two terms and was a president of Firsts. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905, he was the first president in a foreign country, and he was also the first preisdent to be in an airplane, and a submarine. He was also known for leading the Rough Riders in Cuba.
Where? Theodore was born October 27, 1858, in New York, New York. He fought in the Spanish- American War, in Cuba, and led his troops to victory at San Juan Hill.
When? He was president in 1901, and served two terms. He died January 6, 1919, form an arterial blood clot.
Why? He became president ultimately, becasue President McKinley was assasinated. He was one of the greatest presidents. Mainly because he was the firts to do many many things. But also because he was a great public speaker, and had great charisma. "President Roosevelt- or "Teddy"- was full of engery. He didn't just hike. He boxed, wrestled, played tennis, and rode horses."
